Should I buy Travel Insurance?
Travel Insurance is essential in our experience. The costs you can incur before and during your travel can far outweigh any
premium you pay initially for the coverage. A simple visit to the infirmary on a ship can easily exceed the cost of your
insurance protection. An interrupted trip due to illness and a one way fare back home, with all associated medical costs can be
very expensive. A twisted ankle the day before your cruise, could cost you the whole cruise. A parent or family member, becoming
ill prior to your departure, could cost you your vacation. It happens all the time. Travellers try and save a little on their insurance costs and end up paying a significant amount
more. Peace of mind, knowing you will get your money back and not suffer through potentially crippling medical costs, can be
available to you at very little cost. Important note about your Travel Insurance:
The purchase of Travel Insurance is required at the time of booking or prior to any cancellation
penalties imposed by the cruiseline or hotel/tour supplier in order for you to have complete coverage. Failure
to purchase insurance at this time will limit the insurance protection available to you. Relying on your Credit Card protection? Some credit cards provide more coverage then others, check & compare! |
Why Travel Protection?
Traveling is usually exciting and fulfilling, but it can also be very expensive should the unexpected occur
when you are far away from home. Sickness or injury, travel delay, baggage loss, or worse can happen when
you least expect it. Medical costs have risen dramatically and even countries with subsidized National
Health programs may now require payment in full from foreign visitors for emergency medical services. At
the same time travel suppliers such as airlines, cruiselines and tour operators worldwide have made tightened
up cancellation policies to make them more restrictive, so if you have to cancel a trip it's likely that a
substantial portion of your pre-paid travel expenses will not be refunded and if you have to cut short a trip
part way through; a last minute, one-way economy fare return-flight is likely to be more costly than ever. As
well, the reality of global terrorism, increased travel industry bankruptcies, global economic instability, and
the overall unpredictability of life today causes most travelers to look for ways to protect themselves from the
financial risks associated with travel. As a result, the knowledgeable traveler purchases travel insurance to protect against the potential of staggering
financial costs resulting from crises such as the cancellation of a big trip due to death or illness of a family
member or a required emergency medical evacuation. Travel Insurance To view our Manulife travel insurance Policy click here.
