ENTERTAINMENT AND PUBLIC AREAS

The Promenade Deck is home to a variety of bars and lounges, and it’s here that most of the fun begins. Passengers whoop it up in the ever-popular Majestic Casino. The six-story atrium gathers awed onlookers throughout the cruise, and neighboring Galleria Shopping Mall carries an impressive array of jewelry and collectables. Nightly entertainment can be found in the Normandie Lounge, which hosts comedy acts, Vegas-style revues, and more.

Shows:

The centerpiece of Paradise’s entertainment venues is the spacious Normandie Lounge, which offers two Vegas-style shows celebrating the Golden Age of Hollywood. Adventurous passengers can also volunteer to take part in the talent show, Love & Marriage show, or the Trivia nights. A smattering of other performers also wow the audiences nightly, including:

  • Magicians
  • Comedians
  • Paradise Dancers and Orchestra

Shore Excursions:

Carnival offers a wide range of shore excursions, including walking tours, kayak trips, trolley rides, lobster bakes, pub crawls, and wine tasting. Book onboard via cabin TVs or at the shore excursion desk. No last-minute discounts are offered, but late-comers can often join a tour on the dock or swap a pre-booked trip for another one in the same port. A 25 percent fee is levied on any cancellations, and no refunds are offered on tours cancelled within 24 hours of port arrival. Some of the most popular offerings are:

  • Catalina’s Art Deco Casino: This beautiful twelve-story building is divided into a spectacular grand ballroom and movie theatre. There’s no gambling here—“casino” means gathering place in Italian. A stunning reminder of Catalina’s glorious past.
  • La Balfudora Blowhole: Located just outside of Ensenada, Mexico this is one of the world’s largest blowholes—with water shooting 100 feet in the air from the sea cave below. Visit by bus, or by sea with a guided kayaking expedition.
  • Ensenada Cooking Classes: Visit Ensenada’s beautiful downtown core and learn to make delicious Mexican food including fresh quacamole, tamales, enchiladas, and of course, thirst-quenching margaritas.
