Normandie Dining Room (main dining room)
Inside this two-level restaurant is a large mural of the Normandie — a tribute to the classic luxury liner from which the restaurant was named. A mix of round tables and booths furnish the bulk of the dining room area, which can seat up to 1,300 people. The food is good — often delicious — and entree choices include cuts of meat and vegetarian options, as well as other unique creations. The highly attentive service wait staff delivers service with a smile, and dinner typically features singing, dancing, and cheering from staff members and guests alike. The deserts are difficult to turn down, even when one is full.

David’s Supper Club
Fine dining at its best, this restaurant draws in passengers by way of an elegant, clear acrylic staircase, situated just prior to a life-size replica of Michelangelo’s David. Multiple courses are offered, and among just some of the meal selections are seafood and prime cuts of meat. An extensive wine list compliments the high quality of the food. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.

Mermaids’ Grille
This buffet-style eating area features different types of food around every corner. Known as the “Four Corners,” this dining venue is divided into sections with varying themes with an additional separate desert bar and 24-hour pizza counter to add to the mix. The decor follows its name with faux-bronze mermaids gracing the ceiling.

Piazza Café
This popular spot features a coffee-shop-style bar with snacks and specialty beverages. On the opposite side of the room is a complimentary sushi bar, available in the evening hours for a healthy snacking alternative.

ENTERTAINMENT AND PUBLIC AREAS

Carnival Pride offers plenty of activities for passengers of all ages and interests. The pools and hot tubs on Lido Deck are at the center of the action during the day, and a myriad of refreshments are available to satisfy the sun seekers and the kids. For those who aren’t looking to get their feet wet, concerts, ice-carving demonstrations, and shuffleboard are among many of the other activities onboard. Peace and quiet can be found at the pensive Sunset Lounge or the Body Beautiful Spa. The sauna and steam room in this area are a well-kept secrets and a great way to unwind after a long day. Many folks try their hand at the increasingly popular Bingo tournament or head to the Winner’s Club Casino for the real gambling action. In the evenings, the Renaissance Lobby is a centralized social spot. Drink specials and a string quartet are the norm, as people catch an aperitif before supper or mix and mingle into the night. And, of course, the big shows take place in the classy Taj Mahal Theatre.

Bars, lounges, and casinos:

  • Butterflies Lounge: Located on the Riviera Deck, this intimate lounge is actually a theater used primarily for musical and comedy acts. A tasteful butterfly theme highlights the dimly lit venue.
  • Beauties Dance Club: The ship’s sophisticated decor is carried through to the Beauties Dance Club, which contains colorful statues of female busts and offers night owls the opportunity to dance away the night — or just part of that late-night dessert.
  • The Winners’ Club Casino: Located on the Promenade Deck, this casino features a bar and traditional Vegas-style gaming with horse-racing decor. There’s also the occasional live music act.
  • Raphael Lounge: Artistically centered around paintings, this lounge serves as the entrance to the Raphael Room where passengers can purchase serious artwork. On some nights, cruisers can catch a live jazz performance.
  • Florentine Lounge: Passengers frequent this lounge for its variety of beverage choices. It is characterized by a large nude mural and paintings throughout, and is home of the official afternoon tea service.
  • Perfect Game Bar: A popular rendezvous spot, this pub located on the Promenade Deck features sports-themed decor and mounted TVs throughout. Smoking is permitted.
  • Starry Night: Located next to Piazza Café, Starry Night offers a karaoke bar and a dance floor.
  • The Renaissance Lobby: An open-flow design and large painted ceilings through the atrium set the stage for live music performances at this centrally located bar.
  • Ivory Piano Bar: This cozy bar has an amusing pianist tickling the ivories each evening.
  • Bar Venus: Outdoor bar serving patrons of the Venus and Apollo pools. Located on the Lido Deck.

Swimming pools:

  • Lido Apollo Pool: Passengers of all ages splash and swim at this centrally located pool which is the prime locale for the ship’s group games and activities.
  • Lido Venus Pool: Mirroring the Lido Apollo Pool, the fan-shaped Lido Venus is a quieter swimming alternative, perfect for afternoon lounging and sunning.
  • Lido Poseidon Pool: Passengers relax at this smaller, adults-only pool near at the aft of the ship, just a step down from the water slide area.

Shows:

During the daytime, performers on the Pride demonstrate everything from drink-mixing to reggae music. Evening entertainment emanates from the front of the ship, and on the Promenade, the Taj Mahal showcases Vegas-style and larger production numbers. Below, on the Riviera, Butterflies Lounge offers a more intimate setting for nightly musical acts and adult-oriented comedy.

  • Wonderful World: This one-hour revue features culturally inspired music from around the globe. It is considered the ship’s signature production number.
  • Passenger Talent Show: Showcasing the individual talents of the Pride’s skilled passengers, this production draws a large crowd for its unique — and sometimes showstopping — performances.

Shore Excursions:

The Shore Excursions Desk is located in the Renaissance Lobby on the Promenade Deck. There are experts — as well as pamphlets and fliers — to assist passengers with their selections for onshore activities. On the first at-sea day, the coordinator presents the options for each port of call via a slide-show presentation in the ship’s theater which is later looped back over one of the television stations. The registration period, however, begins immediately after the presentation; some guests elect to skip the presentation to avoid the ensuing long lines. Excursions range widely in terms of price, activity, and degree of difficulty. For example, travelers may elect to snorkel, drive an all-terrain vehicle, clip into a jungle zip line, or tour a tequila distillery.

Some of the most popular offerings are:

  • Puerto Vallarta — Canopy Adventure: This five-hour adventure takes participants from jungle treetop to treetop on a series of speedy zip lines, high off the ground. Guests capture spectacular views from the platforms and zip lines during this rigorous excursion.
  • Mazatlan — Sierra Madre Tour: Guests are treated to a rich taste of the real Mazatlan with this six-hour tour. Participants see famed beaches, explore shopping areas, and taste traditional Mexican cuisine. In the lively “Golden Zone”, the daredevil Totonac Indians perform their highly acclaimed acrobatics show. Transportation is provided, but some walking is required. Carnival rates this as a moderately rigorous excursion.
  • Cabo San Lucas — Mini-Jeep Rhino Adventure: For this 3.5-hour adventure, participants drive an all-terrain Yamaha Rhino vehicle up and over the desert hilltops and river washes of Cabo San Lucas and alongside the Pacific Ocean — the parts of the city most people may not associate Cabo with. There is a brief instructional segment, as well as some time at the end for shopping in town. This moderately rigorous excursion is known for its tremendous photo opportunities, given the surrounding views and wildlife.

KID STUFF

Branching out from an already successful “Club O2” program across their fleet, Carnival is rolling out new youth programs and specialty areas on the Pride. The revamped “Camp Carnival” is part of the existing area known as “The Fun Club” on the Upper Deck and serves as the current venue for children 2–11 years old. “Circle C” is a new club, exclusively for kids 12–14 years old. “Club O2” is also new and is geared to provide a unique “place to call their own” for the 15–17 year-old crowd. Select babysitting services are also available for children under the age of two.

Activities are available for the following age groups:

  • Camp Carnival, ages 2–11
  • Circle C, ages 12–14
  • Club O2, ages 15–17

SPA AND FITNESS

Carnival Pride has plenty of amenities for those looking to stay sharp while on board. The ship has a sports deck which contains a small jogging track that encloses two shuffleboard areas. From the windows on the track, one can look down and see the gymnasium. The gym itself is fairly modern, with aerobic equipment on one level and weights on another, totaling roughly 40 pieces of equipment. There is also a studio where several exercise classes are held. In the center of the gym is a glass-enclosed area with a very inviting (though seldom used) whirlpool. The adjacent locker rooms are plush and inviting and contain a sauna, steam room, and private, deluxe shower rooms. The Body Beautiful Spa offers massages — including irresistible scalp massages — wraps, and hot stone treatments from a staff of well-trained masseuses.

  • Private golf lessons
  • Outdoor basketball and volleyball court
