Details Paris & The Provence
This leisurely 9-day getaway is the perfect combination of Paris and the romantic French countryside.
Start with two nights in Paris including guided sightseeing, a Seine cruise and a visit to the second
floor of the Eiffel Tower. An optional excursion to the Louvre Museum can be arranged. Travel by
high-speed "TGV" train to Marseilles, and drive to Aix-en-Provence for your three-night stay.
Enjoy included excursions to Avignon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, for a wine tasting, and to Pont du Gard,
to take pictures of the Roman aqueduct, visit Les Baux-de-Provence, perched high atop a rocky spur
and, following in the footsteps of Van Gogh, Arles, plus an included visit to the remarkable Roman
Amphitheater. Via the film festival town of Cannes a comfortable drive brings you to Nice. Optional
excursions to Monte Carlo and to the artist town of St. Paul de Vence are available. A farewell dinner
has been included to celebrate the success of your French vacation.
Day 1

Day 2 Arrival in Paris, France

| The day is free to rest or to start exploring the splendid French capital. At 6 p.m. meet your
Tour Director and traveling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel. (D)

Day 3 Paris
|
| Sightseeing with a Local Guide features the Arc de Triomphe, Opera, Madeleine, Louvre,
Champs-Elysees. Enjoy a SEINE CRUISE to take pictures of Notre Dame Cathedral and its rose-window,
and for a panoramic view, take the elevator to the second floor of the EIFFEL TOWER.
Balance of the day is at leisure. An optional afternoon excursion to the Louvre is available;
tonight a lively cabaret show might just be the ticket! (BB)

Day 4 Paris-Marseilles-Aix-en-Provence
|
| Early morning departure aboard the famous high-speed "TGV" TRAIN to Marseilles. Here, board
your comfortable motor coach and drive to Aix-en-Provence for your three-night stay. Upon arrival
enjoy a stroll into the center of Aix. Along Cours Mirabeau, admire its famous cafes and
fountains, and discover colorful squares. Dinner is included at the hotel. (BB,D)

Day 5 Aix-en-Provence. Excursion to Avignon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Pont du Gard

| The morning is dedicated to Avignon. Your orientation tour includes a picture stop of the
bridge of the popular song, and the massive Palace of the Popes. A short drive takes you to
Chateauneuf-du-Pape, renowned for its precious wines. An expert will explain the local secrets
of WINE TASTING. Take pictures of the gently rolling hills covered by vineyards and dotted by
castle-like mansions on your way to Pont du Gard. Admire the Roman Aqueduct, a monumental feat
of engineering more than 2,000 years old, before returning to Aix. (BB)

Day 6 Aix-en-Provence. Excursion to Les Baux-de-Provence and Arles
|
| This morning drive to Les Baux-de-Provence, formerly known as a court of love, perched high
atop a rocky spur. Climb the cobbled medieval streets, enjoy the sweeping panoramic views, and
marvel at the imposing ruins. Then continue to Arles where Van Gogh painted more than 300
canvases, including the Sunflowers and the Alyscamps. During your walking tour take pictures of
the subjects painted by the great master and admire the harmony of the ROMAN AMPHITHEATER. Return
to Aix in the late afternoon. (BB)

Day 7 Aix-en-Provence-Cannes-Nice
|
| A late morning departure for Cannes, opulent resort of film festivals, millionaire yachtsmen,
and bikinied beauties. Then follow the glittering shores of the Cote d'Azur to Nice. Drive along
the famous Promenade des Anglais and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Later, an optional excursion to Monte Carlo is available. (BB)

Day 8 At Leisure in Nice
|
| All day to explore the city, walk through the Old Town, or maybe enjoy a lazy dip in the blue
Mediterranean. For those who wish to explore further, an optional outing is available to the
famous artist town of St. Paul de Vence. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at your hotel to
celebrate the success of your French vacation. (BB,D)
