Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight transatlantic flight to Frankfurt.


  • Day 2 - Arrive Frankfurt (Neu Isenburg) Trafalgar meets you on arrival at the airport and transfers you to your hotel. This afternoon an orientation tour shows us the Romerplatz and Opera house. Later, at a welcome meeting, get to know your fellow travellers and Tour Director. (Dinner)

  • Day 3 - Frankfurt (Neu Isenburg) – Prague (2 nights) This morning after breakfast we depart Frankfurt and travel east making a stop at the fairytale city of Nuremberg. There's time to stroll through the medieval streets and the many squares with their attractive fountains. From here our journey continues to the Czech border and via Pilsen, famous for its beer, to the astonishing city of Prague where we spend the next two nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Prague sightseeing & at leisure Our morning sightseeing features Hradçany Castle, the Cathedral of St. Vitus and the Old Town
    Square. Later, with time on your own, why not shop for bargains in glass and porcelain or enjoy a lunch cruise on the Vlatva River Smetana's Moldau? (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)


  • Day 5 - Prague – Vienna (Voesendorf) An early start this morning as we travel via Tabor to the Austrian border. Soon we reach Imperial Vienna. On our arrival a guided sightseeing tour shows us the splendours of this Austrian capital including the Opera house, the Parliament, the Hofburg and the City Hall. Tonight, why not enjoy an evening of good food and entertainment in the Vienna Woods? (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 6 - Vienna (Voesendorf) – Budapest (2 nights) Free time in Vienna this morning, perhaps to take an optional excursion to visit Schönbrunn Palace or window-shop along the Kärtnerstrasse. From here we drive through Transdanubia, making a stop in Roman founded Györ, located on the Danube River. Next we continue to the twin cities of Buda and Pest for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 7 - Budapest sightseeing & at leisure After breakfast we will enjoy a guided sightseeing tour featuring the Fishermen's Bastion, Heroes' Square and the Church of St. Matthias. We'll also gain a panoramic view of the city from Gellert Hill before free time to maybe take a trip to the charming village of Szentendre or visit the Parliament buildings. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)


  • Day 8 - Budapest - Zagreb Today, we head past countryside brimming with storks and their nests towards the shores of one of Europe's largest and most romantic lakes - Balaton. Then we make our way to Nagykanizsa and the border with Croatia. Soon we are in Zagreb, the Croatian capital, where sightseeing includes the lower and upper town and shows us the majestic Cathedral, St. Mark's Church and the Opera house. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 9 - Zagreb – Ljubljana After breakfast we begin today's journey which brings us to Slovenia and its capital, Ljubljana. Here our guided sightseeing tour highlights the Opera House, Cathedral, National Museum, Castle and the numerous parks of this Roman-founded city. This evening we will enjoy a meal of Slovenian cuisine at our hotel. (Buffet Breafast / Dinner)

  • Day 10 - Ljubljana – Venice (Main.) (2 nights) This morning with time at leisure why not take this opportunity to join an optional excursion to the famous Postojna Caves, a labyrinth of tunnels and gorges? Alternatively, you may wish to simply spend more time in Slovenia's charming capital before we head out this afternoon for the Italian border near Trieste. Finally, we arrive in the magical city of Venice for our two-night stay. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 11 - Venice sightseeing & at leisure Our day starts with an included cruise along the canals by vaporetto to St. Mark's Square. We'll view the Bridge of Sighs and Doges' Palace before visiting a traditional glass-blowing workshop. After, enjoy time on your own perhaps to take a trip to see some of the islands in the Venetian Lagoon! (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)


  • Day 12 - Venice (Monastier) - Lucerne Along the Veneto Plain we head towards Milan. Here we head north to drive through the Italian Lake District and then into Switzerland at Chiasso. Soon we are crossing Lake Lugano, the Gotthard range of mountains and travel along the shores of the Lake of the Four Cantons to arrive in picturesque Lucerne. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 13 - Lucerne – Munich (2 nights) Our first stop today is in the Principality of Liechtenstein. We continue to the Austrian border at Feldkirch and drive through the Arlberg range before arriving at mountain-ringed Innsbruck. Here an orientation shows us the Golden Roof in the old town. Next we make our way into German Bavaria en route to fun-loving Munich! (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 14 - Munich orientation & at leisure Orientation of Germany's 'secret capital' shows us the Hofbräuhaus, Marienplatz and the Glockenspiel. Then there is time to enjoy on your own perhaps to explore the city further. Or why not take an excursion into the countryside to one of Mad King Ludwig's extravagant castles and to the Passion play village of Oberammergau? (Buffet Breakfast)


  • Day 15 - Munich – Frankfurt (Neu Isenburg) Through the hills of Bavaria we reach Ulm, to see its impressive Cathedral with the tallest spire in the world. Then we pass through Stuttgart on our way to Heidelberg where we view the castle from the old University town. Next on to the Rhine Valley stopping to visit the wine-town of Rudesheim with its pretty houses and quaint streets. Finally, back to Frankfurt. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 16 - Depart Frankfurt (Neu Isenburg) 'Auf Wiedersehen' as we transfer you to the airport for your return flight to the USA. (Buffet Breakfast)

    Airport Transfers
    • London Gateways: A Trafalgar bonus – transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your Costsaver tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It's that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.
    • Important – Please Note: Passengers will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports providing the following conditions are met:
    • You are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night prior to the date of your departure.
    • Flights are either booked by Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
    • Only one included transfer both inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar. Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.
    • Heathrow Express operates between 05.10-23.30. Gatwick Express operates inbound services between 05.20-23.45 and outbound services from 04.30-23.45. Transfers outside of these times are at the passengers own expense.
    • In the event of unforeseen events (road or rail works, demonstrations, strikes) Trafalgar will not be held responsible for delayed or cancelled transfers.
