Itinerary

Day 2 - Arrive Nuremburg (9 nights cruising) You are transferred from Nuremberg Airport to your River Cruise Ship. (Dinner)

Day 3 - Nuremberg sightseeing and Christmas Market We see the mighty walls with 80 towers that enclose the historic city center. We stop at the medieval Kaiserburg Castle, and walk through the lively old quarter and enjoy the festive atmosphere of Nuremberg’s Christkindlesmarkt with its over 200 wooden stalls filled with seasonal treats, such as Nuremberg’s world-famous gingerbread. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 4 - Bamberg Nativity Walk and Christmas Market The UNESCO World Heritage city of Bamberg continues its centuries-old tradition with Nativity Scenes stationed throughout the city, which you will see on your walk. Then we visit the Christmas Market, with its local crafts, smoked sausages, gingerbread, and Rauchbier—Bamberg’s famous smoky beer. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 5 - Würzburg – Romantic Road – Rothenburg Travel along parts of the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, where you can explore this medieval gem on your guided walking tour. Visit one of Germany’s oldest and most celebrated Christmas Markets. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 6 - Würzburg sightseeing and Christmas Market Visit the stunning baroque 18th-century Würzburg Residenz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Amble through Würzburg’s Christmas Market and then cruise the wonderfully peaceful Main River to Wertheim during the afternoon. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 7 - Wertheim walking tour Charming Wertheim sits at the confluence of the Main and Tauber rivers. We’ll dock right in the heart of town and explore Wertheim on foot and see the Pointed Tower, a former jail built in 1170, the Market Square and wonderful shops adorned for the holidays. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 8 - Frankfurt city tour and Christmas Market Your panoramic tour takes you through the financial hub called Mainhattan and past Old Town, Goethe University, and the Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the historical area around Römer Square, where you’ll find the grand Frankfurt Christmas Market. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 9 - Rüdesheim – cruising the romantic Rhine Visit Siegfried’s Museum, with its unique collection of mechanical musical instruments, housed in Rüdesheim’s 16th-century Brömserhof Mansion. During the afternoon, you’ll sail along the romantic Rhine with its vine-covered slopes and its 40 castles. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Farewell dinner)

Day 10 - Cologne walking tour We have time to visit magnificent Cologne Cathedral and stroll through the narrow streets of Old Town and to visit Cologne’s impressive six Christmas markets at your leisure. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 11 - Depart Cologne Disembark the ship and transfer to Cologne Airport for your flight home.

Complimentary Transfers

With Trafalgar you will receive our included group arrival and departure transfers on the cruise/tour start/end dates if you purchase your flights through Trafalgar on a Trafalgar recommended airline.
Cruise-only passengers making their own air arrangements will receive the included group arrival and departure transfers onthe cruise/tour start/end dates if they provide us with their flight information 30 days in advance of arrival in the embarkation city.
Passengers flight arrangements must coincide with our cruise/tour start/end days and embarkation/debarkation cities only.
In order to receive an airport to ship tranfer the flights must arrive no later than 14.00 on the day of passenger embarkation. As mentioned above these transfers are group transfers and passengers may experiencea short waiting period between transfers. Passengers will nedd to make their own way to the meet and greet area where they will be met by a representative holding a Trafalgar Uniworld sign.
Ship to airport departure transfers are provided to the airport up until 12 noon on day of debarkation.
Passengers arriving outside these times will need to make their own arrangements.
We regret that we are unable to book extra night accomodation for River Cruises.
