Day 5 Lyon – Avignon – Nice (2 Nights)
From Lyon, we drive to Avignon, a Papal Seat in the 14th century and today a place of pilgrimage. See the Papal Palace, one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe, and the famous bridge immortalised in the French song - sur le pont d'Avignon. Enjoy a Cultural Insight into local wine production and indulge in a glass of the local vintage on a Provençal terrace with beautiful views. This afternoon we arrive in the seaside retreat of Nice where an orientation tour will introduce you to this coastal city which has been a favourite among aristocrats for centuries. Day 6 French Riviera Free Time – Excursion To Monaco
Relax on the sun-kissed shores of the Côte d'Azur today. Retreat to the beach with your fellow sun-worshippers, relax at a café overlooking the Bay of Angels or take a stroll along the promenade. You could choose instead to embark on an optional excursion to the medieval hill-top village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Day 5 Seville Sightseeing
Seville takes centre stage today as we spend the day exploring this charismatic city. We'll see the symbolic Giralda Bell Tower in the company of a Local Specialist, then visit the Maria Luisa Park, the centrepiece of the 1929 Exposition, built in a Moorish style and featuring half a mile of fountains, ponds, pavilions and lush plantings. We'll walk through the imposing Plaza de España and visit the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world, where the explorer Christopher Columbus is entombed. Perhaps witness the twirling of colourful skirts and rhythmic clapping of castanets this evening at a fiery flamenco performance.

Day 6 Seville – Jerez and Cadiz Excursion
We indulge in the aromatic flavours of Jerez today as we gain a Cultural Insight into the centuries-old tradition of Spanish sherry production. Tread in the footsteps of Columbus, who used this historic port city as his launchpad to the new world, and see the exotic plants and trees dotted throughout the city that are said to have been brought here by him upon his return.

Today we pay tribute to the brave souls of the World War II Italian Campaign whose last resting place is the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Cassino. We view the Benedictine Abbey, which featured as the site of the Battle of Monte Cassino in 1944, before heading south to the well-preserved ruins of Pompeii. Here we join a Local Specialist who will share details of the devastation caused by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79 as we wander through the ancient paved roads of a city that was frozen in time. Later, we arrive at our hotel in the clifftop village of Sorrento where we will dine tonight.

Day 4 Isle of Capri Excursion
We cross the Bay of Naples today by ferry to the glamorous Isle of Capri where we will visit some of its landmark sights. Wander past the chic boutiques and pavement cafés in Capri Town in the company of a Local Specialist before taking your time to soak up the sophistication of this lovely island on your own terms. Later, we return to the mainland and enjoy a Cultural Insight into the intricate art of inlaid woodwork for which Sorrento is famous.

Day 5 Sorrento – Assisi
Heading north to the slopes of Mount Subasio, we arrive in the mystical town of Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, under whose protection this medieval city is said to remain. We join our Local Specialist on a walking tour along the cobblestone streets towards the Basilica of St. Francis, which we will have a unique opportunity to visit before spending the rest of the day exploring the town on our own terms. See the remnants of Roman heritage at the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva and the Lion Fountain in the central piazza. Shop on Corza Mazzini or admire the beautiful façade of San Rufino Cathedral before dining at your hotel this evening.

Day 3 Limerick – Cliffs of Moher – Killarney (2 Nights)
This morning view the 13th century King John's Castle overlooking the Shannon, St. Mary's Cathedral and the Treaty Stone during your orientation in Limerick. Our first stop is the spectacular sheer Cliffs of Moher where we will learn about their history during a visit to the 'Atlantic Edge' exhibition. After a picturesque coastal drive through the villages of Lahinch and Kilrush, we take the ferry across the Shannon estuary. Our home for the next two nights is the colourful little town of Killarney.

Day 4 Ring of Kerry Excursion

We'll see Daniel O'Connell's Cahirciveen, the fishing village of Waterville, Molls Gap and the Black Valley, renowned for being the last place in Ireland without electricity and telephone networks.

Day 3 Jerusalem – Dead Sea – Masada – Jerusalem
Journeying across the rocky Judean Desert, we pass by the sight where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found accidentally by a Bedouin boy in 1947. A short drive and journey up the cableway brings us to the striking cliff-top fortress of Masada where Herod the Great built palaces and a Roman siege ended in the tragic mass suicide of over 900 Zealots whose sacrifice to this day remains as a symbol of Israel's pledge to remain free. Stroll through the excavations of Herod's palatial retreat before returning to the lowest point on earth to float in its salty waters (time permitting). This evening we share a traditional meal at our hotel in Jerusalem.

Enjoy a full day at your leisure to delve into the fascinating centuries-old history of Jerusalem. Day 1 Arrive Istanbul (2 Nights) (flight not included)
Stand at the ancient crossroads between Europe and Asia, embarking on a journey of discovery through ancient lands and the marauding empires who fought to rule it. Arriving in vibrant Istanbul, you will be transferred to your hotel before joining your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a memorable Welcome Reception to kick off your epic adventure.

Day 2 Istanbul Sightseeing
Spend your day delving into a city where modern and ancient coexist effortlessly. Gain insights into the Ottoman Empire's power during your guided tour of the Topkapi Palace and see the 4th century Egyptian obelisk. Visit Hagia Sophia, the Hippodrome and the exquisite Blue Mosque, said to rival even the Great Mosque in Mecca. Spend your afternoon at your leisure haggling with passionate market vendors lining the labyrinthine lanes of the Grand Bazaar to ply their wares to the highest bidder. This evening, consider an optional dinner with Turkish folk and belly dancing.

Day 3 Istanbul – Gallipoli – Çanakkale
Pay tribute to the brave souls who lost their lives at Gallipoli - the national pride of two nations, the Turkish and Australians, were awakened at the site of the bloody WWI battlefields and are commemorated to this day. See Anzac Cove and Dardanelles, and visit the cemeteries of Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair, the final resting place of many Allied soldiers. We continue to Çanakkale where we dine at our hotel tonight.

Day 4 Çanakkale – Troy – Pergamon – Izmir (2 Nights)
Explore the legends of Troy and see the symbolic replica of the famous Wooden Horse that the Greeks used to break their siege of this ancient city. Visit the ancient Asclepion Medical Centre in the city of Pergamon before retiring in seaside Izmir this evening where we'll dine at our hotel.

Day 5 Excursion to Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary
Meander through the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Ephesus, past the amazingly intact façade of the Library of Celcus and down to what was once its thriving port. This evening you may consider joining an optional dinner at a local restaurant in Izmir and perhaps a spot of raki to wash down delicious seafood flavours.

Day 6 Izmir – Pamukkale
Leave the coastal city of Izmir behind as we journey inland to Pamukkale. Relax and enjoy the blissful thermal pools at your hotel before dinner.

Day 7 Pamukkale – Hieropolis – Antalya (2 Nights)
Tread in the footsteps of the ancients who sought relief and relaxation at the Roman health spa at Hieropolis, and admire the bubbling pools and delicate white cascades of water of Pamukkale's Cotton Castle Springs. whose ruins we will have an opportunity to explore this morning along with the enchanting Cotton Castle Springs at Pamukkale. Later, we travel through scenic countryside and join the Yazir community in the Taurus Mountains for an unforgettable Be My Guest lunch and insights into their traditions. Our stop for the next two nights is the Mediterranean retreat of Antalya where we have some time at leisure to able through the winding lanes of its old city and admire beautifully preserved Ottoman architecture. This evening, join your companions for a rousing Regional Meal at a local restaurant.

Day 8 Perge Excursion
Enjoy a morning on your terms to soak up the beguiling seaside atmosphere of the Turkish Riviera, embarking on an optional yacht cruise or relaxing at the hotel pool. This afternoon, we travel to Roman city of Perge to visit the impressive Antalya Archaeological Museum to see treasures spanning the centuries. Your evening is free to find an inviting meyhane for some local chit chat and delicious flavours of kebab and baklava.

Day 9 Antalya – Aspendos – Konya
Witness the world's best-preserved theatre of antiquity during our first stop in Aspendos this morning, before continuing to Konya, where we will gain unique insights into the mystical Whirling Dervish sect whose remains lie in the Mevlana Museum and Mausoleum. We continue to the Karatay Tile Museum, spellbound by its exquisitely Seljuk-tiled dome before returning to our hotel where we'll dine tonight.

Day 10 Konya – Cappadocia (2 Nights)
See where weary travellers once rested at a well-preserved 13th century caravansary. We then journey to the fairy-tale land of Cappadocia with its honey-coloured rocky spires providing an enchanting backdrop for our visit to the underground city of Sarhatli on the ancient Silk Road and sights of the cone of Uchisar. This evening, indulge in the flavours of traditional pottery kebabs during a Regional Meal at a local restaurant before retiring to your hotel with beautiful views of the surrounding fairy chimneys.

Day 11 Göreme Excursion

Day 12 Cappadocia – Ankara

Journeying to Lake Geneva, we arrive in the resort town of Montreux, set against the pristine backdrop of snow-covered peaks and vineyards. After lunch, consider joining an Optional Experience to cruise Lake Geneva, including a visit to the Charlie Chaplin museum in his former estate, Manoir de Ban.

Day 3 Lake Geneva (Montreux) – Chillon – Zermatt (2 Nights)
This morning, we visit Chillon Castle, immortalised by Lord Byron's 'Prisoner of Chillon'. Our next stop is the 15th-century vineyards of Cave Champ de Clos in Chexbres, where we'll 'Connect With Locals' over a Be My Guest lunch. Continue your journey to the resort town of Zermatt, set against the backdrop of the snow-capped Matterhorn.

Consider joining a cruise on the tranquil lake waters and then ride the world's first Cabrio cable car to the top of Mount Stanserhorn. Tonight, we stay at one of Trafalgar's 'Stays With Stories' - the Grand Hotel Europe, promising the elegance of yesteryear and sweeping lake vistas.

Day 8 Brienz and Interlaken Excursion

Spend some time on your own and enjoy superb views of the peaks of the Bernese Oberland.
